Wal-Mart Joins Online Video Fray With IE-only Solution
The site is a real mess right now; It seems it has some BIG problems with Firefox.
Customers can now download videos onto their PCs from what it is calling a beta Web site. Buyers can choose from among 3,000 movie or television titles that can be quickly downloaded to a PC and viewed there or transferred to a laptop or portable media player device.
In a statement, Wal-Mart claimed to be the first large retailer to launch such a program with the backing of the major Hollywood studios, including Walt Disney Co., Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc. and Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.
The download cost for the new movies will range from $12.88 to $19.88, Wal-Mart said. Other catalog titles will start at $7.50, and television shows are priced from $1.96 per episode, it said.
