CNET said on Monday its president and chief operating officer Barry Briggs has resigned.
CNET said Briggs plans to pursue personal and other business interests. The company said it has no plans to replace him at this time.
CNET's chairman and chief executive officer Shelby Bonnie resigned in October due to his role in the company's backdated stock options controversy.

Apple said in a filing on Friday that Google CEO Eric Schmidt has declined stock options offered to new directors and will instead buy shares on the open market. The company said that Schmidt turned down the automatic stock option grant to purchase 30,000 shares, to which new directors are entitled to under a company stock option plan. Instead, Schmidt intends to purchase 10,000 shares of Apple stock on the open market.

While founder Kevin Rose has gotten a lot of attention including a recent cover of BusinessWeek, CEO Jay Adelson has been guiding Digg toward business success.
