Google announced that it has closed its acquisition of YouTube.

In connection with the acquisition Google issued an aggregate of 3,217,560 shares, and restricted stock units, options and a warrant exercisable for or convertible into an aggregate of 442,210 shares, of Google's Class A common stock.

The number of shares of Class A common stock issued and issuable by Google was calculated by dividing $1.65 billion less certain amounts (around $15 million) funded to YouTube by Google between signing and closing by the average closing price...

The YouTube acquisition broadens the horizon somewhat for Google in its relationship with sites like News Corp.'s MySpace. In fact, Google CEO Eric Schmidt and vice president of ad sales Tim Armstrong are set to meet with News Corp. executives this week to discuss new ways of working together. Fox Interactive President Ross Levinsohn confirmed the visit, saying: "If we can figure out the ways to work with them or integrate with them, that could be really good for us."

Google only just reached a landmark search agreement with the News Corp....

Google: Chaos by design

Fortune magazine's latest cover is devoted to Google, the current media darling, and whether it's a one-hit wonder. So where does chaos come in?

To figure the place out, I've repeatedly been told the person to see is Shona Brown, the 40-year-old ex-McKinsey consultant who is Google's senior vice president for business operations. That's what it says on her business card, anyway, but she might as well be Google's chief chaos officer. She literally wrote the book on the subject, a 1998 bestseller called "Competing on the Edge: Strategy as...

Apparently they are building Google services directly into Intuit’s QuickBooks, so small business users will be able to list themselves on Google Maps, create and manage advertsing campaign with Adwords and post listings on Google Base.

Eric Schmidt is talking about embracing the long tail of small businesses on the conference call. Less than half of Quickbooks businesses have an online presence. This will help them get online, he says. Businesses will be able to create an adwords account using pre-filled information from Quickbooks. If...

Apple said in a filing on Friday that Google CEO Eric Schmidt has declined stock options offered to new directors and will instead buy shares on the open market. The company said that Schmidt turned down the automatic stock option grant to purchase 30,000 shares, to which new directors are entitled to under a company stock option plan. Instead, Schmidt intends to purchase 10,000 shares of Apple stock on the open market.

In a deal between two of the Internet's most prominent players, Google will begin selling advertising for eBay outside the United States and help buyers quickly ring an online merchant to do business.

The arrangement announced Monday promises to introduce "click-to-call" Web site technology to a broader audience and potentially speed its adoption as a means of more quickly connecting online consumers with advertisers. It will allow potential buyers to call eBay merchants or Google advertisers by clicking a link on a Web page.

Google says it won't pull an AOL

Google users should have faith that their Web searches won't end up being public information like they have at AOL, according to Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

"We have systems in place that won't allow it to happen," Schmidt told reporters Wednesday after a keynote discussion at the Search Engine Strategies conference here. "Our No. 1 priority is the trust our users have, and that would be a violation of trust, so the answer is that would not happen."

However, during the keynote discussion, Schmidt had hedged a bit, saying, "We are...
