Update: A comment from Brandee Barker, Corp Comm at Facebook which provides some clarification:
The Times story is referencing funding information from more than a year ago. Per my comment in the article, Facebook has raised more than $37 million in venture capital to support our growth, including systems operations. We now have several data centers with thousands of servers and, of course, our investors have a stake in the company.

Valleywag's takes on Digg's dance:
Techcrunch is reporting that Digg is being shopped around to News Corp and other companies for a paltry $150 million dollars. Digg has been unable to control bandwidth cost or monetize the traffic, without a buyer they will enter Series B funding from Greylock Partners.

Revving up the hype even further, the cofounders of the social news site Digg have raised $1 million in financing from Marc Andreessen and Greylock Partners. But the money isn’t for Digg: it’s for Revision3, their video podcasting service that includes the popular podcast DiggNation. Digg co-founder Jay Adelson says DiggNation is already making between $50,000 and $100,000 per month, and the money will allow them to assemble an ad sales team, rent an office and pay regular contributors.
