Some times before, Google has announced aplan to set up a research and development Center in China. Now, it has decided to invest up to $1 billion on the office in Andhra Pradesh, India. The government of India has approved the investment for the center.

The proposed center will likely be spread over a million square feet and called as ‘special economic zone’.

The government has also approved the investments planning to make by Dell’s and Accenture’s as well.

Google is running a development center in Bangalore presently....

Matrix’s $150 Million India Fund

Like China, India is becoming a must-invest destination for US venture capital firms. Norwest, Kleiner Perkins, and Sequoia Capital are some of the funds that have invested in India and Indian companies. The latest to join the party is Matrix Partners, which has just closed $150 million Matrix India Fund. The new fund is headed by Avnish Bajaj of baazee.com (an auction company bought by eBay) and Rishi Navani, who formerly headed WestBridge Capital Partners that recently merged with Sequoia Capital.

India bloggers angry at net ban

India's burgeoning blogging community is up in arms against a government directive that they say has led to the blocking of their web logs.

The country's 153 internet service providers (ISP) have blocked 17 websites since last week on federal government orders.

Some of these sites belong to Google's Blogspot, a leading international web log hosting service.

Indian bloggers say that the decision is an attack on freedom of speech.

A number of them have started filing petitions under the country's new landmark freedom of information...
