Google CEO Eric Schmidt announced at the Web 2.0 Expo today that a presentation creation and sharing service will arrive soon to augment the current Google online offerings of gmail, calendar, word processing and spreadsheets.

Google Inc. on Thursday made its boldest move yet to challenge Microsoft Corp.'s flagship Office brand of business computer programs.
Google now sells Google Apps Premier Edition, an array of Internet-based data storage, communication and collaboration programs aimed at businesses. The features, which cost $50 a year, come with extended tech support.
The new product is aimed squarely at Microsoft. In offices around the world, Microsoft's Word document maker, Excel spreadsheet creator and Outlook e-mail are ubiquitous.

The Korea Times reports that Google discussed the possibility of buying ThinkFree, a subsidiary of a Korean company. ThinkFree is a software that wants to emulate Microsoft Office.
* ThinkFree Office is a commercial cross-platform application, that includes: Write (word processor), Calc (spreadsheet) and Show (presentation). The suite also has an iPod edition.

Starting tomorrow companies or organizations can deploy Google email, calendar, chat and Web page hosting for free (ad supported). The set of Google communications applications is an extension of Gmail for Your Domain, and has some limited UI customization and administration features. Later this year, Google will offer a subscription service with additional storage and support options.
