Dick Parsons, the chairman and chief executive of Time Warner, fired a shot across the bows of Google, saying his group would pursue its copyright complaints against YouTube.

Mr Parsons told the Guardian: "You can assume we're in negotiations with YouTube and that those negotiations will be kicked up to the Google level in the hope that we can get to some acceptable position."

He denied the decision to pursue any potential infringement had been prompted by this week's acquisition. Google, whose core search function attracted 204 million...

Few companies inspire such existential angst among investors as Time Warner.

"I want to own it. I want to like it. I keep thinking I have to buy it. And I do. I buy a little," says one fund manager. "Then I think about every one of the divisions, except cable, and I don't really like them."

Some bad karma is weighing on shares of the world's biggest media conglom. The stock's stuck at $16 and change. Seems there's no way, no how, it'll budge.

A year ago, many on Wall Street called this price ridiculously low -- not that they were...

According to MarketWatch, an entertainment analyst at Jefferies & Co., Robert Routh, thinks that Viacom may actually merge with Yahoo!.

Why? Well, Yahoo! CEO Terry Semel used to run Warner Bros. and could operate the Paramount division of Viacom. And, of course, he could also take all that cable content and run it through Yahoo!'s multimedia distribution network. Sort of a Google Video on steroids.

Perhaps stock analysts have given up on just doing the old "buy", "hold", and "sell." But Mr. Routh's theory collides with the theory in this...

The Internet service provider's declining fortunes may serve as a cautionary tale, but redemption isn't out of the question.

The company went from being worth around $200 billion in 2001 to an estimated $20 billion today. (AOL values based on estimate and raw guess partly attributed to Google's purchase of five percent of AOL for $1 billion.) It's like the US becoming as economically powerful as Spain by 2011, or similar in dramatic plummet to Britney Spears' Q rating. From its high of over 30 million subscribers, AOL now claims somewhere...
